Intercare Insurance Solutions, an innovative benefits consulting and services company, announced that Mike Barone has been promoted to the position of president. In his new and expanded role, Barone provides strategic direction and leadership across all areas of the organization, from strategy to sales and operations. He is based at the Intercare headquarters in San Diego.

As president, Barone's primary responsibility is to provide the leadership necessary to make sure Intercare has the right people, processes and technology in place so that the company can anticipate, meet and exceed the needs of its clients. Under his leadership, Intercare will continue to help clients make best use of every insurance dollar they spend, shift tactical responsibilities away from human resources departments and, as a result, free them to focus on more strategic activities. He will also be sure Intercare continues to reduce liability, and enhance the employee experience though exceptional customer service and innovative programs designed to enhance employee health.

Barone joined Intercare in May 2003. He has been in the insurance industry for more than 15 years and has held key positions in management, underwriting and business development at top tier insurance and health care organizations including Prudential and Health Net. He also spent several years as a technology consultant developing eCommerce strategies and administrative systems for insurance companies and brokerage firms. Prior to his promotion, Barone served as Intercare's president in the Southern California region.

Barone earned his bachelor's degree in economics from Cornell University. He currently serves on broker advisory panels for several insurance carriers. Barone is a volunteer with the Sundt Memorial Foundation. He is also a soccer and baseball coach and is active in the San Diego chapter of the YMCA Adventure Guides.
